How retail trends in 2024 impact your Merch
Here are three trends we’re noting for 2024 and beyond. All of the trends we are seeing are part of a broader focus on the desire people have to live a more sustainable life that has a smaller impact on the natural world and is aligned with their values.
Trend #1: Quiet Luxury
Comfort and lasting luxury that is less ostentation and creates a feeling of calm and safety. This includes products that are beautifully designed, can be repaired, and contribute to feelings of well-being and comfort.
Merch that fits this trend: sound systems, blankets, candles, and matching travel sets.
Trend #2: Work/Life Balance
With more flexibility in where and how people work, there has been an increase in golf, trail running and urban fishing. Making work wear more of a uniform for ease - such as cargo pants that are comfortable and can take you from work to home seamlessly.
Merch that fits this trend: canvas boat totes, commuter day packs, cargo pants, soft t-shirts.
Trend #3: Adventure Travel
People are traveling more and and at the same time thinking about how their travel can have less of an environmental impact. Train travel is increasing. Local cooking classes, hiking with the locals, or biking through the countryside staying at small inns and taking in some of the local culture are popular. Think about traveling lightly and zero waste as you travel.
Merch that fits this trend: shampoo bars, travel mugs, duffel and roller bags that are small enough for taking on a plane and easy to transport on trains or buses.
Keeping these broader trends in mind will help ensure your merch is useful, on brand and aligned with the values of your clients, employees, or others you may be giving products to.
