The State of Branded Merch in 2026

Posted by Jane Mitchell on

Recycled ball caps, mugs made from bamboo fibre, t-shirts made from organic cotton and RPET in Canada, repurposing used chopsticks into charcuterie boards, pens made from recycled material, notebooks that are 100% recycled and printed with soy based ink - the list goes on.

Brands are making it easier for consumers to make the sustainable choice.  And branded merch is no exception.  There are more and more options in the promo industry for products that align with the values of sustainability and sustainable production.

As Chris Coulter, CEO of GlobeScan said: “We need to shift the narrative from one where the onus is on people to make the right choices to brands taking on more of the burden of enabling consumers to live healthier and more sustainably. Consumers should not have to ‘figure it out,’ they should be able to count on brands to be sustainable by default and count on governments to make the systemic changes needed – with the support of business.”

Brands are embracing sustainability more and more and it is without doubt a competitive advantage. At Oyster, we will always look for the sustainable option first and include it in quotes and project estimates where we can.
